Today 9/7/04

Took Doodle to Karate. Emily tagged along because Renee had to work late. Emily received a birthday package from Peetie in Arizona. One gift was a long sleeved sweatshirt with a matching skort. Although the temperature was is the mid-nineties, she insisted on wearing this outfit out of the house.

She is hard headed. Just like her mother.

Today 9/3/04 through 9/6/04

A quick recap of the long holiday weekend…

Friday

The three Henry’s (not to be confused with The Three Tenors) went to the Saints/Dolphins game while the Renee and Emily had a “Girls Night”.

Please let it be known that the first “boo” was recorded with 7:08 remaining in the first quater. The crowd is already in mid-season form.

Saturday

The family went eat at Applebees for lunch before Renee had to go to work.

After lunch, I brought Emily to buy new school shoes. Her school’s idea of fashion and Emily’s does not agree. Emily will not be allowed to wear her famous white high-heeled flip flops. I think that she’ll correct them on their oversight. My money is on her.

After shopping, we retired to my mom and dad’s house so that the kids could partake in the HOT TUB. Actually, Emily says that its HER hot tub. Emily is a very kind and generous person to let my parents have it at their house.

My Dad made me build stuff.

Sunday

Another trip to the HOT TUB while Renee was working.

More construction at the parents’ house.

Went home and watched the LSU (BOO!) and Tulane (YEAH!) football games on TV. LSU proved lucky once again. How can a kicker make a 44 yard field goal and miss three extra points?????

I smell payoff.

Monday

Back to the HOT TUB (see a pattern?). Followed by a rousing game of home run derby with Doodle.

Damn, the kids were tired and cranky.

Went back home and Emily fell asleep within five minutes.

Renee came home from work and I paid bills.

I also attempted to re-claim the songs that I deleted from my iPod. I don’t know how I did it. 5GB of information, poof. Prayers or sacrifices would be appreciated.

Today 8/31/04

A day in the life….

Emily has started using her sewing machine that she received for her birthday. Anyone need a dress? Just remember, like any other artist she can be temperamental.

Doodle had karate tonight and did pretty well.

The most important moment of the day happened at bedtime. Doodle read his first ‘real’ book to us. It was “Just a Bully” by Mercer Meyer. All I can say is that he made me really proud. He’s doing great.

The adults worked. Again. Enough said.

Today 8/30/04

Let’s see what went on today….

Emily had orientation for pre-school today. Her teacher re-emphasized that she has to wear closed-toe shoes to school. This does not make her happy. Anyone that knows her understands that she only wears high heeled fip-flops. Should be interesting next week when school starts.

Doodle went to school and came home. Big whoop. He also did is homework.

The adults went to work. Very exciting.

I read “Just a Bully”, “Just My Friend” and “Just a Mess” by Mercer Mayer to the kids before bedtime.

Deep Thoughts

Deep thoughts by Doodle…

According to Doodle:

Everyone has noticed how time seems to more quickly when someone is having fun.

So Doodle says:

He wants recess to be boring so that times move slowly, so that recess lasts longer.

Understand?

Good.

Today 8/29/04

Pretty good day, all-in-all.

The kids were still a bit tired from the trip to the zoo yesterday. Renee’ had to work tonight, so me and the kids took off to Gulfport. Man, I know how to live.

We had lunch at Applebee’s with Uncle Alex. Bien, as usual.

Headed over to Home Depot to buy some $8.00 light bulbs for the ceiling fan in the living room. Freakin’ halogen bulbs.

Then off to the $200.00 Store. Uh, that would be Sam’s. Made it out of their for under $184.00. Suprised myself with the total damage.

Finally, back home for bath and bedtime reading.

Zoo Trip

We went to the Audubon Zoo yesterday. We had good time despite the fact it seemed that the sky was going to open up at any moment. We were lucky, it only drizzled.

Many of the exhibits and rides were closed, but the petting zoo was open. The kids would have revolted if it was closed.

We looked into having Doodle’s birthday party there this year, but the mofo is expensive. Forget that.

The pictures are ready to go.

Today 8/25/04

Both kids went to Tumbling practice today.

Renee’ had to go to Jackson, MS for a meeting for work. For some reason, she was not in a chipper mood when she got back from he meeting. I blame it all on the six hour drive that she had to make today. Of course, she still thinks that I’m great – just ask me.

Me – I got the picture gallery working and updated the pictures from 2001.
